Applying for Financial Aid

It takes time and patience, but applying for financial aid can pay off in big savings on tuition and fees. Funds can be limited so it's important to apply early.

Three key steps:
  1. Apply for admission to the college or university of your choice
  2. As soon after Jan. 1 as possible, complete the U.S. Department of Education's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  3. Pursue financial aid from college, state and private aid programs. Some North Dakota guidance counselors recommend using Fastweb to search for scholarships and grants
For more information, contact the financial aid office on the campus of your choice or Financial Aid Director, North Dakota University System director for financial aid, 701-224-2541
