UND College of Education & Human Development receives continuing accreditation

The University of North Dakota College of Education & Human Development (CEHD) has received continuing accreditation through the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The CEHD includes bachelors, masters, specialist and doctoral level degrees.

"That we met all standards without any weaknesses is testimony to the hard work of faculty and the high quality of our teacher education programs," said Anne Walker, acting dean of the CEHD. "Our faculty take program assessment and continuous improvement seriously."

Continuing accreditation is an indication that the program meets "rigorous standards" as established by the professional education community. As part of reviewing a program for continuing accreditation, CAEP evaluates institutions on five main categories of criteria - content and pedagogical knowledge; clinical partnerships and practice; candidate quality, recruitment and selectivity; program impact; and provider quality assurance and continuous improvement.

The mission of CAEP is to "advance excellence in educator preparation" using evidence-based accreditation processes. UND's next CAEP accreditation visit is scheduled for spring 2022.
