NDUS to hold first Lumina Attainment Challenge Grant event Thursday in Bismarck

Posted on 1/9/2018

BISMARCK, N.D. - The North Dakota University System (NDUS) will hold its first Lumina Attainment Challenge Grant event on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, in Bismarck, North Dakota. Lumina launched its Attainment Challenge Grant program last fall and committed to support states with up to $100,000 for developing and implementing evidence-based policies to improve student success, close equity gaps, help underserved minorities and assist selected states to reach a robust postsecondary attainment goal.

The development of high-quality action plans made North Dakota eligible for challenge grant funding along with Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Vermont.

This event will be the first opportunity to discuss the grant with higher education stakeholders to help the NDUS determine how to reach the State Board of Higher Education's stated goal of 65% postsecondary attainment for North Dakota by 2025. Speakers will be experts on successful attainment strategies. Working group discussions will follow speakers to discuss how the speakers' messages may apply to attainment strategies in North Dakota.
