BISMARCK, N.D. - A recent presidential proclamation has college admissions representatives happily looking forward to more applications.
President Barack Obama recently proclaimed November as National College Application month. North Dakota University System employees stated that the system is partnered with the Bank of North Dakota to focus on outreach to high school students. NDUS Director of Financial Aid Brenda Zastoupil said the partnership had begun with just one site and had grown to four to extend outreach efforts.
"North Dakota joined the national campaign because our university system saw a need to help high school seniors navigate the college application process," Zastoupil said. "The state has a long history of assisting students with their financial aid application and this effort ties in well to preparing students for college. Our aim is to continue to provide more opportunities for all students to ask questions so that they are better prepared to take the next step beyond high school."
So far, three events have been held in the state this year, at Central Valley High School Sept. 30, Carrington High School Oct. 7, and Magic City Campus Oct. 14. A fourth event will take place at Watford City High School Nov. 12.
