The State Board of Higher Education voted to advance four candidates among the seven that interviewed during a meeting with the Search Advisory Team yesterday in Bismarck.

After video interviews, the following candidates were selected to participate in the next step in the process, which is constituent meetings and in-person interviews April 28-30.
Advancing candidates:

  • Michael Thomas, president and CEO of the New England Board of Higher Education
  • Mark Hagerott, deputy director and distinguished professor in the Naval Academy Center for Cyber Security Studies
  • Paul Turman, system vice president for academic affairs with the South Dakota Board of Regents
  • Robert Donley, executive director and CEO of the State University System of Iowa's Board of Regents

The Board plans to select the next Chancellor at its May 14 meeting, following final interviews.
