Committee Narrows Minot State University Presidential Search to Four Candidates

MINOT, N.D. - The Minot State University presidential search committee met in Minot today. The committee interviewed eight candidates via Interactive Video Network.

"The search process is going smoothly and is on schedule," said Dr. Terry Hjelmstad, a member of the State Board of Higher Education and chair of the committee. "Today's interviews were impressive, and we are confident that we will find the right person for the job."

The committee narrowed the pool to four semi-finalists. The semi-finalists are: Martin Slann, Ph.D.,The University of Texas at Tyler; Nicholas A. Piccolo, Ed.D., Alma College; Lorrie Clemo, Ph.D., State University of New York at Oswego; and Steven W. Shirley, Ph.D., Valley City State University.

The committee plans to conduct in-person interviews with these semi-finalists Feb. 11-14. After the semi-finalist interviews, the committee will forward three unranked names to North Dakota University System Interim Chancellor Larry C. Skogen. The three will then be interviewed by the State Board of Higher Education at its February 27 meeting in Minot.
