  1. Program explanation. Provide a brief abstract of the program and what its offering intends to accomplish. Be sure to include the date the program will be initiated and when the program cycle will be completed, if approved.

  2. Rationale for providing the program at a distance. Provide an explanation for how the content and pedagogy of this program will be satisfied through distance education. Include any special strengths and/or unique features of the program offering and relate them to the institutional mission and/or missions of the principal or host campuses. If the entire (100%) of the course offerings are not being provided at a distance, please explain.

  3. Program requirements. Provide a list of the program requirements, a list of courses and the sequence in which they will be offered, and special arrangements that may be required in order to meet internship expectations, appropriate student/faculty ratios, accreditation requirements, and a letter of approval from IVN Director for day and time by semester.

  4. Structural setting of the program. Describe how the program will be provided including the use of telecommunications, any use of adjunct faculty, availability or computer services, if needed, use of host campus facilities, and IVN sites approved by receiving campus VPAAs.

  5. Student services. Describe plans for advisement, library services, bookstore services, non-classroom contact, and financial aid arrangements.

  6. Comparable regional programs. List programs elsewhere in the state and region that have a similar title or offer similar instruction and the public institutions that offer them. If there are major distinctions between this and similar programs, please explain. (Region is to be defined on the basis of the clientele to be served and the nature and scope of the program involved.)

  7. Need. Document the extent of interest on the part of students for the program. Explain the methods used to determine need and student interest at each receiving site ie. Surveys, interviews, etc. and describe the results of these assessments.

  8. Financial support. Provide an explanation of how the costs for providing this program off campus will be covered.

  9. Approvals. Distance learning credit activities require approval of the academic officer, or designee, of both the principal campus offering the academic program and the institution(s) serving the geographical area(s) in which the distance learning activity is offered.
