NDUS Centers of Excellence
North Dakota's Centers of Excellence program fosters collaboration between the state's public universities and private businesses to bring new products, services and jobs to the marketplace. Since the state Legislative Assembly funded the first three Centers of Excellence pilot projects in 2003, North Dakota's Centers of Excellence have formed partnerships with at least 135 companies and generated an estimated $329 million total economic impact on North Dakota's economy. Located on University System campuses, the Centers of Excellence are engaged in cutting-edge research in energy, agriculture, life sciences, electronics, aerospace and manufacturing. Multiple centers are housed at North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota. Centers also are located at Bismarck State College, Dakota College at Bottineau, Dickinson State University, Lake Region State College, Valley City State University and Williston State College.
Detailed information on the Centers of Excellence program, including application forms, is available on the North Dakota Department of Commerce website.
