Kathy Lowe, assistant director of financial aid in the Office of Financial Aid at Dickinson State University, has been elected by her peers as president-elect of the North Dakota Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NDASFAA.) Lowe was elected at the annual state conference held in Bismarck, N.D., April 11-13.
Lowe has been active in the organization by serving as co-chair of the 2012 Publicity and Registration Committee for the annual conference in Bismarck, N.D.; chair of the 2011 Professional Development Fall Training in Carrington, N.D.; a member of the Program Committee for 2010 annual conference in Fargo, N.D.; and the co-chair of the 2009 NDASFAA Conference in Dickinson, N.D.
In addition, Lowe also attended training at the 2007 RMASFAA Summer Institute. She was honored with the "Rookie of the Year Award" in 2009 by NDASFAA which was given in appreciation for dedication and commitment to students and the financial aid profession. Lowe has also served on the Higher Education User Group (HEUG) planning committee for three years.
Lowe has been employed at DSU for 26 years and has been with the Office of Financial Aid since 2005. She has been active with the DSU community by volunteering for College Goal Sunday, the Big Event, serving on Staff Senate and by working one-on-one with students and parents to address their financial aid concerns.
