The Dickinson State University Department of Agriculture and Technical Studies will be celebrating American Agriculture during National Ag Week, March 4-10, 2012. National Ag Day is acknowledged March 8.
American agriculture is responsible for providing the necessities of everyday life which include food, fiber, clothing, fuel and much more. Due to the increase in world population, there is a greater demand for food, fiber and renewable resources produced from the United States. The National Ag Day program is committed to increasing public awareness about American agriculture and its benefits to society and focuses on educating Americans about the industry to increase interest in career opportunities in the areas of agriculture, food, fiber and renewable resource industry.
The DSU Department of Agriculture and Technical Studies offers degrees in agricultural studies with options in agricultural studies, business/management, integrated farm management, integrated ranch management, natural resource management, range management, soils and equine. Hands-on experiences with internships and field trips enhance individual learning experiences, giving students a head start in the competitive job market.
