A group of students from Dickinson State University will be traveling to Antigua, Guatemala in part of the God's Child Project, May 14-28, 2012. Students will self-fund the cost of the service learning experience through fundraising and donations.
The God's Child Project was founded in 1991 by Patrick Atkinson. Volunteers who participate in the service learning project will build homes for impoverished families, serve the evening meal for the homeless population and clean up after the meals, care for children in a malnutrition center and aiding in distributing clothing to impoverished communities.
A series of taco bars and silent auctions are scheduled for Tuesday, March 6, Wednesday, March 28 and Wednesday, April 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Elks Lodge. Cost is $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under.
Students are continuing to accept monetary donations, medical supplies and small children's shoes and clothing.
